I have to say my walk to work is lovely. Views of Georgian Bath and surrounding countryside. But recently I’ve been fixated by the pavement. More particularly the variety and robust beauty of the cast iron manhole covers, grids and coal holes. Some were made near our studio at the Young Brothers Foundry in Walcot. History on the pavements. Have a look. There’s an International Manhole Cover Museum. Guess you knew that?
