This Arts Council England scheme showed its commitment
to encouraging new writing talent by awarding bursaries
for winners to buy time to complete a literary work-in-
progress. Northbank designed the accompanying anthology
to the Writers’ Awards scheme for three years. As before,
each book contained extracts from the work of authors 
alongside portraits by photographer Kelvin Rogers. Here,
additional shots of their writing hands provided a further
insight into the personality of the writers and provided
the event with a strong visual theme for both the book
and the awards event itself.
