I found a notebook from my time studying at Coventry back in the day. Inside are notes made during a lecture on Swiss Poster Design given by Ian McLaren, an inspirational visiting lecturer, along with photocopied thumbnails of all the posters he showed. Ian studied at The Ulm School of Design (Hochschule für Gestaltung), founded in 1953 by Inge Aicher-Scholl, Otl Aicher and Max Bill. He went on to be one of Otl Aicher’s three team leaders during the 1972 Munich Olympics; responsible for the official guidebook, publicity for the cultural programme, technical documentation for each sport, and daily programmes. Here are some of the posters which I enjoyed tracking down online.
